Back in the fourteenth century master Italian poet Dante Alighieri penned his still-famous Divine Comedy, probably scaring the hell out of his audiences with his imaginative descriptions of an afterlife featuring Paradise, the Purgatory, and the Inferno where evil doers are consigned.
The famous Italian painter Botticelli later created his visual versions of Dante’s Inferno, which have been described as highly detailed and closely depicting the concept of the afterlife about which Dante wrote in the fourteenth century.
Taking this scary but imaginative theme as a base, Leander Games has focused on the Inferno chapter of the story in which Dante is guided through the nine concentric circles of torment by the ancient Roman poet Virgil.
Players are prompted to “Journey through Dante’s underworld to the foot of mount purgatory and ultimately, the path to paradise” in the five reel, 20 pay-line game, which features relevant graphics and an appropriately suspenseful sound track.
Operational features in the game include the basic ‘Hell Freezes Over’, where up to 5 Wild reels can occur at random in a single spin, which can trigger a choice of 3 free spins bonus features. 3 or more scatters in a single spin transports the player to a fresh bonus feature in which choices are offered between random Wilds, Increasing Wilds and Sticky Wilds, and players rather oddly get to choose Purgatory, Paradiso or Inferno for rewards.
Inferno awards 15 free spins with a random multiplier from 3x to 15x on each spin. Paradise delivers 12 free spins with sticky wilds staying on-screen, and Purgatory presents 15 free spins with a win multiplier increasing after each winning combo.
The game is accessible via desktop and mobile, and has a claimed RTP of 96.7 percent.
