Hopes that the legalisation of online poker and daily fantasy sports might hitch a ride on the New York “must pass” budget bill due Friday (see previous reports) faded Wednesday when the Poker Players Alliance advised that these elements are missing from the final draft.
The exclusions do not mean the end of political efforts to secure legalisation; there are still bills at committee stage in the state House and Senate and the current legislative season runs through to the end of June, so there is still time for movement.
In the meantime speculation and rumour continue.
