The stars were certainly aligned just right for a Californian lottery punter last week, who won $1,000 on a scratchcard, reinvested the winnings, and moments later scooped a $10 million jackpot.
Modesto, CA resident Rodney Meadows said he initially bought one of the $30 California Lottery 30th anniversary scratch cards from his local Fast Mart shop.
After winning he decided to “let it ride” and bought another three tickets for $90, left the retailer shop briefly to scratch again, and won $10 million.
Meadows, who regularly buys scratchcards, told local media: “First off, I could not believe it. I had to ask the clerk at the store, and he said, ‘You better check it again at the machine.’”
Meadows said he had not yet decided what he will be doing with his winnings. According to California Lottery officials, he is one of only four people to ever win $10 million on an anniversary ticket.
