752 computer sets seized in Malaysian police anti-online gambling operations last year were destroyed in Georgetown Thursday by police intent on taking the equipment permanently off the market.
Malaysian illegal operators have proved to be extraordinarily persistent, quickly re-equipping from a variety of sources after their computers have been seized in police raids.
Timur Laut police officer Mior Faridalathrash Wahid told local media that the computers destroyed by police Thursday had been seized in police raids on illegal gambling centres and internet cafes during 2013.
“The computers were seized during 65 raids carried out after investigating the illegal gambling centres,” he told reporters.
