Senator Jeff Schoenberg’s SB3497 bill authorising the sale of state lottery tickets over the internet continued to make progress this week, passing the state Senate Executive Committee stage.
The State Journal Register reports that the bill could see the state’s Powerball lottery game join others including the multi-state Mega-Millions lottery in an online sales pilot programme.
Although Schoeberg originally tagged any increase in state revenues generated by his bill for state debt repayment, this has been subsequently amended to direct such revenues to education and capital programs.
