Venture Beat reports some exciting social casino gaming statistics derived from a report released by Kontagent, a San Francisco-based user analytics platform.
According to the report, the use of casino-style games on social networking site Facebook is up 60 percent over 2011 and 13 percent of all players on Facebook are social casino game players, an increase from 6 percent in 2010.
Zynga Poker, the second most popular game on Facebook, claims many of those players but up and coming Double Down Casino, offering a more diverse group of casino games, is one to watch. Launching in 2010 , Double Down Casino was the fourth biggest game on Facebook in 2011.
Speaking at the Global iGaming Summit & Expo, Kontagent’s chief executive officer Jeff Tseng said that of the 780 million social game participants, 98 million of those are active social casino game players.
David Gutierrez from Kontagent said social casino games generate seven times higher revenues than the casual game category.
Kontagent analyses social casino gaming companies Blitzoo (Slotspot), PopCap, Viaden, Plumbee, Peak Games, Playtika and Buzz All Stars amongst others and tracks over 1000 apps and 150 million monthly active users.
