Delhi police have reported the arrest of a six-person online gambling ring alleged to have facilitated bets on IPL cricket matches.
The arrests took place at the Shahdara Farsh Bazar, and included the seizure of documentary, telecommunications and computer evidence, a spokesman revealed.
The spokesman said that a routine police patrol unit received information from members of the public regarding online betting on the Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab match. The patrol passed the information to a task team which raided the premises indicated, arresting six men aged between 28 and 56.
“All of them confessed to having placed bets,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad.
In another incident, four persons were arrested from east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar for online gambling.
