Indian online skill gaming operator Baadshah Gaming will henceforth decline the registration of real money poker players from Gujarat.
In a website notification from the company this week it notes that the decision to ban the players was made out of respect for the December 4 ruling by the Gujarat High Court that poker is a game of chance and therefore gambling (see previous reports).
Baadshah Gaming CEO Madhav Gupta said, “We at Baadshah Gaming will continue to abide by the rules of the land. Since the latest order from the Gujarat High Court, we have suspended poker operations in the state. While we will miss our Gujarat players it is our responsibility to always be legally compliant. We do hope for a quick resolution of this matter.”
The accounts of Gujarat real money poker players at Baadshah will be suspended, and deposits refunded, Gupta added.
This is believed to be the first instance of a skill gaming site restricting Gujarat players from accessing real money games.
