Indian state bans online rummy

The Indian State of Telangana has banned Online Rummy saying the Telangana Gaming Act 1974 will be amended to include a ‘Cyber Space’ definition which will clarify online matka, sports betting, poker and rummy as being illegal and list criminal penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment.

Telangana Police are ill equipped to regulate the online space, India’s press opines, with “thousands of websites” offering online gaming, but authorities have indicated they will methodically crack down on hosting companies and operators.
