Sikkim, the only Indian province so far to regulate and licence online gambling, has issued its second licence to the energy drink group Maarm International Pvt., which has engaged with local lottery specialist Golden Lottery in a new venture to provide online gambling facilities to Sikkim residents.
Golden Lottery will provide the technology platform for the venture, which has been awarded a five year renewable licence costing the equivalent of around US$160,000, valid from the beginning of April this year.
A Maarm spokesman told local media that the company was keen to see the expansion of online gambling to other Indian states, and has been holding exploratory talks with the federal government on the issue.
The only other online gambling licensee in the province is Future Gaming Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., which was awarded a licence late last year (see previous report) and according to some reports may launch soon.
