Lotto New Zealand’s new instant play games initiative is already under fire following introductory emails sent recently to online punters.
The games range in price from NZ$0.50 to NZ$5 and are available through the Lotto NZ App and online. Users have been invited to try the games out before playing for real money and can win up to NZ$100,000, according to local media reports.
The Lotto NZ website describes the games as the “online version of Instant Kiwi games” and warns that players must confirm they are over 18-years-old.
This week a spokesperson for the Problem Gambling Foundation claimed that the games are a “much more harmful form of gambling” that also appears to be targeting a younger demographic.
Lotto New Zealand has not yet responded to the criticism.
