With the Czech lottery business up for grabs, the local Fortuna gambling group has partnered with Greek lottery specialist Intralot in a new 10 year deal that has seen Intralot supply Fortuna Entertainment subsidiary Fortuna sázková kancelář with a central system and plans to provide up to 3,500 lottery terminals for the operation of lottery numerical, fast and instant games.
The launch took place this week, with a network of more than 700 terminals already in operation, and a planned rise to about 1,000 within weeks.
Intralot is expected to complete the installation of its terminals by 2012, combining its technology with the variety of outlet types across Fortuna’s nationwide retail network.
“Fortuna is launching its operations much earlier than expected and is ready to provide a wide portfolio of gaming offerings to its customers in the Czech Republic,” said Martin Illner, CEO of Fortuna Lottery.
“So far, we have managed to develop a wide network of well-placed PoS that we are planning to expand further. We are confident that together with Intralot, we will manage to become the market leader of the country and recreate its gaming world”, he said.
The Czech Republic with a population of nearly 11 million people and a Euro 17 700 GDP per capita is one of the most stable and prosperous countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
