The International Ski Federation (ISF) will not award title and presenting sponsor rights to commercial betting companies in future, according to the Associated Press, as it initiates a clampdown on sponsorship rules.
Athletes are also now prohibited form carrying gambling operator advertising on their racing suites or from having gambling operators as a main sponsor, however, smaller scale sponsorship advertising by betting companies at race organisers’ events are reportedly still permitted.
The tightening of the rules stems from an effort to curb irregular betting and match-fixing throughout the world of sport.
