Israeli police reported Sunday that officers have raided residential premises in central Israel, seizing money, luxury cars, documents, and other evidence in support of allegations of illegal online gambling, tax offences and money laundering involving tens of millions of dollars.
The Times iof Israel reported that 7 men were arrested in the raids and others were questioned.
Police revealed that the raids followed a joint investigation involving the anti-corruption and organized crime unit of the Israel Police, the Tax Authority, and the State Prosecutor’s financial department.
The names of those arrested were not released, and the individuals concerned were due to appear later in the day for remand at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court.
A police spokesman said that further arrests can be expected as investigations progress.
