Italian Minister of Cooperation and Integration Andrea Riccardi has called for a ban, or a limit at least to be set, on the gambling sector when it comes to advertising amid worries of a potential increase in problem gambling by vulnerable people affected by tough economic conditions.
Minister Riccardi, the founder of a Catholic charity called the Community of Sant’Egidio, has tasked his department to investigate the issue and is quoted as saying “to ban (gambling) advertising, as in the case of cigarettes, or at least have very strict regulations”, by ANSI.it.
