The long running Borgata edge-sorting court action involving Phil Ivey and associate Cheng Yin Sun took an interesting twist this week.
Ivey filed a counter-suit against the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa saying the group had known about defects in its cards and had destroyed the evidence.
Ivey’s claim further says Gemaco, the producer of the cards, is responsible because it is contracted to provide cards within industry standards.
The Borgata initially sued Ivey for Baccarat winnings of $9.6 million saying he won by using illegal edge-sorting techniques .
Just last year Ivey lost a lawsuit where he also argued the use of the technique in which he won $12,4 million from the Genting Group.
A British High Court ruled against the poker professional saying the Genting Group didn’t have to pay Ivey the money because of his controversial use of the edge-sorting technique.
