Kudos to an online casino based in Gibraltar, Jackpot City.com, which this week made a donation of A$5 000 to help victims of the recent Australian floods.
The donation has been sent to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal after the casino, part of the Carmen Media Group, started its Australian Flood Relief Fund to raise money for those Queenslanders affected by the January 2011 floods.
Staff at JackpotCity.com donated an initial A$2,170, and casino management doubled that amount.
In addition to the funds raised by the staff and management at JackpotCity.com, the decision was made to contribute all proceeds from the casino’s January 2011 Boomerang Australian Pokies Series, raising a further $660 for the flood fund.
Claire Anderson, a spokesperson for JackpotCity.com, said: “It is not just the fact that we here at JackpotCity.com employ a number of Australians, including myself, it is that human tragedy transcends country borders. We wish all of our Australian and Queensland players all the best during this trying time.”
