Jersey head hunting in Israel

A thirty-strong official delegation led by Jersey’s minister of economic development Alan Maclean visited Israel to meet with online gambling companies, Israeli government officials and business leaders reports the Wall Street Journal.
Following the passage of Jersey’s new e-gaming legislation, the purpose of the delegation was to explore opportunities and form ties with Israeli gaming software and support system providers as Jersey’s population lacks the wherewithal to meet the technical side of its promising online gaming industry.
Despite it being illegal for foreign gaming operators to offer Israelis their services and for online gaming sites to be based in Israel, the country is a leading solutions provider for online casinos with the likes of 888.com, Playtech and the recent purchase of Israeli software developer Playtika by Harrah’s.
“We want to optimize our new e-gaming legislation,” Maclean said. “And we’ve identified Israel as offering many opportunities.”
