Karma Gaming International, a developer of online digital lottery games, has signed a distribution agreement with interactive gaming and betting solutions provider, OpenBet Ltd.
Karma has been developing a more exciting games genre by merging the kick of winning money with the fun of casual and mobile games, claiming that extensive research has shown such products outperform traditional instant win games in lottery markets, and increase player acquisition by appealing to a wider demographic.
The agreement with OpenBet, will enable Karma to bring titles such as El Lootchador, Haunted Hotel and Secrets of the Pyramids to new markets.
Haunted Hotel and Secrets of the Pyramids are claimed to be the first episodic instant win games, featuring storylines played out over multiple chapters. Each level contains a hidden object puzzle and a crossword. Players must uncover hidden letters within the puzzle to solve the crossword to win real-money. Players can also uncover additional bonus mini-games as well as hidden clues to solve the mystery storyline, including hidden notes and artifacts.
Many of Karma’s titles include unlockable mini-games and achievements for added player excitement, and can be played cross-platform – for online computer (Flash), mobile (native iOS and Android) as well as HTML5 mobile.
Karma is based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and boasts a team with experience in both the real-money and social and mobile gaming sectors. The company raised a $5 million series A round of financing in 2013, with backers including the former president of Electronic Arts and the former CTO of Groupon and co-founder of Inktomi (see previous reports).
