The Italian online gambling market continues to hold appeal for operators, judging by the response to the release of the latest batch of licences by regulator Agenzia delle dogane e dei monopoli, which has reported that 80 applications have been submitted since applications rather belatedly opened in January this year.
120 licences were offered, but a number of operators reportedly missed the applications closure deadine and are understood to have applied for extensions.
Every applicant was required to pay upfront an applications fee of Euro 200,000. The applications submitted within the deadline period will be considered from April 19 in order of receipt, and successful applicants will be licensed through to end December 2022.
