Kindred Group subsidiary Kindred Futures has partnered with Cockroach Labs to build the next generation global online gaming platform.
Cockroach Labs’ SQL database for global cloud services product, CockroachDB, aims to significantly improve customer experience across all Kindred brands. The team will target challenges resulting from the distance between the customer’s device and the multiple active data centers that span continents which may affect performance, reliability and speed.
“CockroachDB is exactly the product and team we’ve been seeking as we look for better ways to serve our growing base of global customers,” Marcus Smedman, chief technology officer of Kindred Group, said. “Countries are becoming more protective of their citizens’ data, and we need a partner that can help us to better serve global users while remaining compliant with domestic regulations.”
Kindred will be integral in the development of CockroachDB, saying “outside of Google, there is no solution like this, and Cockroach’s unique approach offers a great partnership opportunity for Kindred Futures”.
New York City-headquartered Cockroach Labs is led by a team of former Google engineers and is backed by a group of investors including Benchmark, G/V, Index Ventures, Redpoint, and Sequoia.
The company recently raised $27 million in a Series B funding campaign which was preceded by $26.5 million in the previous funding rounds since its inception in 2015.
