Kyl confirms Adelson meeting on internet gambling

Las Vegas Sands chairman Sheldon Adelson’s opposition to online poker legalisation continued to create headlines in the United States Thursday, with veteran anti-internet gambling Senator Jon Kyl confirming that Adelson had met with him to brief him on his opposition to legalisation.

Kyl refused to discuss the content of their conversation, making it difficult to assess exactly what Adelson was trying to achieve, however rumour that Kyl and Nevada Senator Harry Reid have been interacting on a new online poker legalisation proposal could have been part of the exchange of opinions.

Senator Kyl would not be drawn on what impact Adelson’s opposition might have on legalisation initiatives.
