Ladbrokes sponsorship with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) will take a new direction with a dedicated responsible gambling element integrated into all campaigns directed at fans and players.
The Backing Responsible Gambling campaign will see responsible gambling badges worn on players shirts during the 2019/20 season, full/half page responsible gambling adverts in all match programmes, dedicated LED boards and interview backdrops advertising the campaign.
Instead of the usual logo and slogans, fans will see the Senet Group’s “When the Fun Stops, STOP” message along with Backing Scottish Football.
In addition, ex footballer and reformed problem gambler John Hartson will collaborate with the company to ensure that the campaign targets the most vulnerable.
David Macdonald, for Ladbrokes, said: “As a responsible business, we hope this innovative scheme proves our commitment to tackling problem gambling through sport, across Scotland and will encourage other operators to follow suit, for the benefit of our customers, colleagues and communities.”
“The decision by Ladbrokes and the SPFL to use our campaign materials is a great endorsement of the work we do to engage with players through positive and engaging messaging, which drives reflection and behaviour change,” Gillian Wilmot, Chair of the Senet Group, commented in a separate statement.
