Speaking at a Louisiana economic task force meeting this week, Golden Nugget land casino owner (as CEO and president of Landrys Inc.) Tilman Fertitta suggested a number of ways in which the Louisiana gambling scene could be improved and state tax revenues boosted.
His recommendations included on levelling the playing field for operators with regard to competing against tribal casino enterprises, improving riverboat laws, expanding gambling opportunities, and following the examples of Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware in legalising online gambling.
Fertitta claimed that making these changes could see state tax coffers receiving up to $70 million more in the first year alone.
