The independent professional business services group PricewaterhouseCoopers has issued a report on the land gambling Mecca of Nevada, predicting that the parlous business situation of the state’s gambling industry should begin to improve late 2011, eventually returning to pre-recession levels by 2014.
But, the organisation cautions, the competition from the digital entertainment world is a major competitive threat that will have to be addressed: “In markets across the world, the proliferation of digital challenges and services is driving an explosion in the entertainment choices available to consumers, ranging from 3D movies to mobile TV to massively multi-player online games,” the report notes.
“The single biggest challenge facing the industry will be staying close to its consumers – at all levels of spending – and ensuring the experience remains sufficiently compelling to override other potential choices.”
