Californian single mother-of-four Thuan Le was singled out by Fate for a 42 million-to-1 windfall in the state lottery this week, winning $14 million on a ticket she had not intended to buy.

The California State Lottery reports that Le accidentally put $6 in an online self-service terminal at a local convenience store to buy her usual $5 worth of tickets. When she realized she still had $1 in credit, she thought, ‘I might as well get another SuperLotto Plus ticket.’

That sixth ticket, with the number 5, 33, 25, 46, 32 plus Mega number, 26, was the winner of the $14 million jackpot.

Returning later to the machine to check her results, Le discovered that she had become an instant multi-millionairess. It was all too much for the excitable winner, who reportedly ran screaming from the store!

Le reportedly plans to buy a house, travel, and visit her parents in Vietnam with the proceeds.
