Tough luck story of the week has to be the still-anonymous Irish lottery punter who lost out on a Euro 68,205,610 jackpot win in Tuesday night’s Euromillions draw….by a single digit.

The Irish media Wednesday morning revealed that there were no winners for the jackpot, but that four players, including an Irish player, came incredibly close, with the Irish punter just one digit off the winning five numbers and the two stars combination…he or she had five numbers and just a single star.

The consolation prize for such a shattering near-miss on fabulous wealth and security? Euro 297,860 – less than 1 percent of the jackpot.
