Lucky teenager scores big on National Lottery Scratchcard

Jack Tambini, an 18-year-old cash and carry apprentice got more than he dreamed for whilst making a delivery to a Dundee convenience store this week, coming away GBP 100,000 richer after hitting a top scratchcard prize.

Tambini intended to spend his last pound on a packet of crisps, but a kindly store manager gave him his money back and on an impulse Tambini instead used it to buy a Purple National Lottery Scratchcard and hit the top prize.

A bemused Tambini told reporters: “When I saw I had matched three amounts I had to get the shopkeeper to double check it and then my colleague who was with me too. Even when the machine confirmed I was a winner I still didn’t believe it and was just in shock.

“I used to play Scratchcards occasionally but hadn’t bought one for a while, so this was just a one off.

“I was told I’d have to phone Camelot, so I just went straight back to work. I mentioned it to a few people, then my boss overheard and took me into his office. They gave me a day off to get everything sorted but it still hasn’t sunk in.”

The money will help Tambini’s family, and he has ambitions to pass a driver’s licence, get a car and enjoy a holiday, although most of the windfall will be put aside in a savings account.
