The Canadian online gambling industry could soon involve another major First Nation licensing group following a decision by the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council to permit its KPK Commission to extend its licensing offer beyond land-based gambling and e-commerce to online gambling operators.
The Council represents 11 First Nation tribes in the southern part of the Saskatchewan province, and has established links with the Antigua and Barbuda government in the Caribbean, where a successful offshore banking and financial services industry is being developed.
KPK has already started setting up an offshore bank based on the island which it intends to use as a specialised e-commerce and e-gaming financial facility.
The Kahnawake online gambling licensing and hosting enterprise near Montreal in the Quebec province has successfully operated an online gambling licensing and regulatory regime for many years, exercising its First Nation sovereign right to regulate affairs within its tribal boundaries.
