Reports from the United States indicate that the national mainstream newspaper USA Today is planning to enter the fantasy sports arena with the launch of a website titled Fantasy Score.
The website will focus on allowing players to compete in daily tournament-style games based of NFL football data, with more sports added in the future, including basketball, ice hockey and baseball.
Advertising will be the main revenue source, the USA Today exec handling the project, Mark Pesavento, revealed, adding that the mass-circulation newspaper would be used to promote the new product in both traditional and digital media.
Fantasy sports in an increasingly competitive market in the United States, with FanDuel the market leader on a market share of around 65 percent, pursued by DraftStreet.
