An anti-online gambling bust carried out by Malaysian police in the state of Sarawak this week resulted in the arrest of 16 people and the confiscation of 18 computers and RM2 000 in cash.
As is typically the case, the two cyber cafes were equipped with CCTV and their main entrances guarded.
The ongoing anti-online gambling operations, of which there have been several recently, have gained momentum in the latter half of this year as authorities vow to stamp out the practice.
The case is being investigated under Malaysia’s open Gaming House Act.
