The UK football club Aston Villa has announced that the UK land and online gambling division of the Malaysian leisure and hospitality group Genting is to be its shirt sponsor for the next two years.
The partnership commences next (July) month, allying the club with arguably the UK’s largest operator of casinos.
The Genting Casinos logo will feature on the club shirts under the agreement, garnering wide television and general media publicity for the gambling group.
Aston Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner said: “We believe this will be a good and positive partnership for the club and it reflects our continued growth.
“The fact that Genting has strong local connections in addition to its international dimension makes this a good relationship for the club and we anticipate that it will work well as we embark on a new chapter for Aston Villa.”
Genting executive deputy chairman Peter Brooks added: “The Premier League is the pre-eminent football league with a vast international following….we have been associated with Birmingham since the 1970s and look forward to strengthening our relationship with this great city.”
