Malaysian police in Kajang have destroyed 5,042 computer sets seized in online gambling raids over the past two years, explaining that the action is designed to take the machines out of circulation.
District deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Sabri Abdullah said the computers were seized during raids conducted under ‘Op Dadu’ and ‘Op Judi Online’ in which 353 police raids were carried out and prosecutions launched.
Sabri said claim notices were given to respective parties to collect the confiscated machines, but nobody showed up.
He said Kajang magistrate’s court recently gave a green light to the police to dispose the machines under Section 16A (2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
In related news, police in Kuching report that a particularly persistent illegal online casino operator has just been busted for the fifth time in an early morning police raid in which 18 computer sets were seized.
