Malaysia’s chief minister Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will oversee setting up a State Government task force that will include police, the Malaysian anti-corruption commission and the State Islamic Affairs Department to combat illegal internet gambling despite admitting that existing laws were presently not sufficient in deterring illegal operators.
Legal action would be meted out against offenders under the country’s Negri Sembilan Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1992 for Muslims and under the existing civil laws for non-Muslims said a Straits Times report.
