George Town police have announced the arrest of three Malaysians for running an online betting ring that took local bets on British Premier League football matches.
A police spokesman revealed that the arrests took place at a luxury apartment block during an early morning police raid, mounted after a tip-off from the public.
Several Astro decoders, 15 mobile phones, computers, laptops and betting slips were seized, along with records that indicate that the syndicate took in about RM 500,000 in bets each week.
