Tonio Fenech, the Malta Minister of Finance, Economy and Investment revealed at a Malta Remote Gaming Council meeting that according to the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) companies registered in Malta now account for 60 percent of Danish Gambling licences and around 40 percent of French, Italian and Spanish licences.
Since March 2008, LGA granted gaming licences have doubled to 425, while people employed directly in the sector have almost doubled to 4 000. The gaming industry is generating over Euro 22 million in gaming taxes and licence fees, said Fenech.
Additionally, ancillary employment from other business in support of the growing online gaming industry has increased to 7 000.
