The pre-announced appointment of Kristof Fahy as chief marketing officer at Ladbrokes took practical effect Thursday when he took up his responsibilities at the UK gambling group.
With wide marketing experience in senior positions at the Telegraph Media Group most recently and, prior to that, at William Hill, Fahy will head all brand and marketing activity at Laddies across both Digital and Retail products.
In a statement issued by the company, Fahy said: “Ladbrokes has an extremely strong brand and I’m looking forward to building upon that strength with our marketing, advertising and sponsorship activity. Jim Mullen [Ladbrokes CEO] made marketing central to his strategy for Ladbrokes and we now have many opportunities across a variety of sports to showcase the passion that Ladbrokes brings to sport.
“We want to deploy our considerable expertise, skills and brand strength in those places where our customers are most active. We already have forged some outstanding opportunities with our SPFL partnership in Scottish football and our Challenge Cup sponsorship in rugby league and we have an appetite for more. We want to work with sports who appreciate what we can deliver and who understand the value we provide.”
Mullen commented: “Kristof is a high quality addition to our team at a crucial time. Our products are now better than or at least on a par with the best in the market and we need to get more recreational customers on board. Kristof has an excellent track record in this area and he has the expertise and the firepower to get the Ladbrokes brand seen in more places more often.”
