Mega gambling ring bust in Vietnam

Xinhua reports the arrest of the Vietnamese vice director of online advertising services and software company, Asian LiveTech Services, following a raid on office premises situated in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Thi Khéo, a 34-year old woman, is alleged to have run an illegal online gambling ring offering online sports betting, casino and lottery through the ibet789 domain, raking in “hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars” since its inception in 2011, the Vietnamese High Crime Prevention and Control Department said.

Authorities seized computers and documents at the Asian Livetech Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi offices as well as at Khéo’s home in co-ordinated raids.

Investigations, initiated late last year, will continue and are expected to expand following Khéo’s detention.
