Australian gambling group Crown Resorts is currently discussing online gambling joint venture possibilities with the William Hill group as it seeks to improve its CrownBet online business, according to Australian media reports Friday.
Crown Resorts has a 62 percent shareholding in CrownBet, and has said only that it is discussing possibilities.
“Crown evaluates opportunities regarding its investments from time to time,” Crown said in a statement to the share market, cautioning that there is no certainty as to whether any transaction will result from this.
The Australian Financial Review noted that Australia’s crowded online wagering sector is seen as ripe for consolidation, as existing players come to grips with soaring marketing costs and fight for market share.
