You have to wonder what other plans the giant Las Vegas land casino group MGM Resorts may have in mind following its announcement Tuesday that it is to install a massive WiFi system on its properties that will allow visitors to access the Internet for free.
The group has clearly been quietly advancing the project pre-announcement, revealing that the system is already in effect at the Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and The Mirage, and will soon be implemented at the Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur.
The system will give free basic Internet access to visitors in public areas of MGM properties such as the lobby, pool area, casino and restaurants… and it doesn’t require a password.
Guests staying in at the group’s hotels get an unspecified upgrade on the service, and convention delegates using the MGM properties can enhance connection speeds.
MGM spokesmen said this week that the scheme will ultimately enable literally thousands of visitors and guests to use multiple Internet-powered devices throughout its properties.
