Microgaming has confirmed that a major online jackpot was hit earlier this week at the Grand Mondial online casino (see previous report), advising in a statement Wednesday that its Mega Moolah progressive was hit for a massive Euro 18,915,872.81, setting a new pay-out record for the popular game.
The winning player, who wishes to remain anonymous, hit the jackpot with a 75 cent bet on an Android mobile device.
The life-changing Euro 18,915,872.81 jackpot was won at grandmondial.eu on Friday 28 September 2018. As with all wins on Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network, the winner will receive the prize as a lump sum and not in annuities.
Anticipation had been building in recent weeks since the software giant announced that its Mega Moolah jackpot surpassed the 12 million mark.
The latest win exceeds the Euro 17,879,645.12 that set the current world record in 2015, which earned Microgaming a Guinness World Record title for the ‘Largest jackpot pay-out in an online slot machine game’.
David Reynolds, games publisher at Microgaming, said Wednesday: “We’ve been on the edge of our seats in anticipation of the Mega Moolah jackpot being hit these past few weeks. Watching the jackpot grow has been exciting for us at Microgaming and we are immensely proud to see it set a new record. Congratulations to Grand Mondial Casino and their lucky player on this amazing win!”
Emma Hall, promotions manager at Casino Rewards, said: “This is the moment we were hoping would come! And for the player to win the jackpot from a 75 cents bet in less than 50 spins is just incredible”.
She added that the big win was the sixth major Mega Moolah pay-out for Casino Rewards in the past 12 months.
To date, Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network, which the company claims is the largest in the industry, has paid out over Euro 948 million.
