The Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of Misiones (IPLyC) has temporarily suspended its online gambling operation Misionbet.
Our readers will recall the ongoing battle Misionbet has fought to stay alive when late last year it was taken down by legal action initiated by Buenos Aires public prosecutor, Martín Lapadú (see previous reports). Lapadú alleged that Misionbet was offering online gambling services to residents of provinces other than Misiones.
At the beginning of this year, a Buenos Aires court lifted the suspension following Misionbet’s implementation of an effective geolocation system and the operator continued its online operations.
In a statement earlier this week, the IPLyC said:
“The Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of Misiones communicates to the community that for reasons other than their will – not attributable to the IPLyC SE – and within the framework of its obligation to guarantee transparency and security to the gamblers, “we see ourselves in the need to suspend the activity of the Misionbet gaming platform from 0.00 hs on 31.10.18 “.
According to local press, the Government is looking to take over the management of the operation without relying on third-party management firm Sistemas Integrados S.A., whose relationship, while close to the end of its contract term, has reportedly broken down.
