The U.S. State of Mississippi lawmaker’s unanimously passed Bill HB 974 Tuesday, banning Internet Cafe’s that allow customers to gamble on online games for prizes.
“They’re not using the Internet at these cafes”, said House Gaming Chairman Richard Bennett, R-Long Beach, who authored the bill.
“Customers play slots on a video screen for prizes such as pre-paid phone cards, some of which can be exchanged for cash. The software is the exact same software as in the slot machines that you play,” he said.
Readers will recall Mississippi Representative Bobby Moak’s recent attempt to legalise online gambling in the southern state which failed at the committee stage, just three weeks after he introduced it for the second time in as many years .
