It looks as if the gambling expansion debate in Pennsylvania is set to drag on until at least next week following a tweet Wednesday in which the usually well-informed analyst Chris Krafcik advised:
“PA pols delay #gaming/#igaming talks. House, Senate on recess; House not expected back ’til next week, House GOP spox told me.”
Our readers will recall that the expansion includes the legalisation of online gambling and DFS, and is motivated by the need to finalise a funding package for the state’s $32 billion annual budget, which has already been agreed.
Pennsylvania lawmakers are also faced with a $2.2 billion budget deficit.
Intense meetings over last weekend were supposed to deliver the final funding package by Monday, but that did not materialise, and it now appears that another week will pass before further reports on progress can be made.
