The appointment of Rob Templeman as non executive chairman at Gala Coral has been followed by the announcement of a new group chief executive, Carl Leaver. Leaver takes over from Neil Goulden who has been acting as interim chief executive since July.
Leaver was most recently director of international, home and direct at Marks and Spencer. Prior to that he filled the position of chief executive of De Vere Group plc and managing director of Travel Inn (Whitebread), now Premier Inn.
The group also announced the decision of current chairman, Neil Goulden, to step down from the Board with immediate effect. Goulden will remain with the group until early next year to ensure an effective hand-over and will then continue on a three year consultancy basis. Gala Coral’s board has invited Goulden to become chairman emeritus in recognition of his contribution to Gala Coral over the past 10 years.
The group’s board now consists of Rob Templeman (Non Executive Chairman), Carl Leaver (Chief Executive), Gary Hughes (Chief Financial Officer), Don Kornstein (Non Executive), Charles Attwood (Non Executive), Wilf Walsh (Non Executive), Barry Hardy (Non Executive).
