Reportage from Indian gaming law portal, glaws.in, indicates that PB Acharya, the Governor of the North East Indian State Nagaland, signed off the “Nagaland Prohibition of Gambling and Promotion and Regulation of Online Games of Skill Bill, 2015 under Article 200 of the Constitution” late last week (see previous reports).
Following his assent the duly promulgated Act is now set to be published in the Official Gazette following an almost 10 month journey through the Legislative Assembly since its introduction.
The Act specifically legalises skills games which may include poker, rummy and daily fantasy sports.
According to the reporter’s source, the drafting of regulations followed by the award of licences is expected to begin within the next 8 to 12 weeks.
