The Nevada Gaming Control Board has released figures for March gambling revenues, showcasing a 7.45 percent year-on-year rise at $991 million.
The report represents a significant more than $45 million increase compared to February 2017, with table games delivering revenues up 9.8 percent y-o-y to $335.6 million despite an 11 percent drop in usually high-contribution baccarat win.
The Strip contributed $526.1 million – up 8 percent year-on-year, and Downtown establishments reported revenues up an impressive 22.6 percent y-o-y at $62.9 million.
The March results have elevated Q1-2017 win to 4.8 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
The March numbers are additionally interesting because they include “March Madness” wagering on basketball games. $439.5 million was wagered on basketball during the month, representing an all-time record for Nevada. Bookmakers won $41.3 million for a hold percentage of 9.6 percent.
The State collected $80,538,273 in gambling percentage fees during the month of April 2017, based upon the taxable revenues generated in March 2017. This represents a 10.41 percent (or $7,593,070) increase compared to the prior year’s April, when percentage fee collections were $72,945,203.
