Nevada nixes proposal to legalise betting on presidential elections

State lawmakers in Nevada have rejected at committee stage a proposal by Democratic Party State Senator Tick Segerblom seeking to allow Nevada sports books to take bets on presidential elections.

Summing up the sentiments of his colleagues on the committee, one panel members observed: “I think that something as import as elections, as opposed to games, should not be the subject of wagering in our state.”
