New boss for Betfred

Former Million-2-1 founder and chief exec Chris Sheffield has joined Betfred.com as its new managing director.
He will be responsible for the management and operations of the company’s online gaming products including casino, bingo, poker, sportsbook and mobile games.
“I am delighted to be joining Betfred.com at a really exciting time,” Sheffield said this week. “I have a real affinity with the Betfred brand which has been successfully developed by Fred Done and his team.”
Technology specialist Sheffield sold internet business Eunite to home shopping group, N Brown back in 2000 for more than GBP12 million. Two years later he set up Million-2-1, which developed fruit machine gambling games for mobile phones as well as running an online casino and reverse auctions.
Based in Manchester, Million-2-1 was bought out by the UK-arm of the Las Vegas-based International Game Technology for an undisclosed sum, believed to run into millions.
In 2010 Sheffield was named chairman of search agency, the Eword, in addition to his roles as senior vice president of technology, media and telecoms at China Resources and Investment Vehicle.
“Chris is an outstanding talent and with his experience in mobile gaming we are delighted with our new signing and everyone is looking forward to working with him. He has some very exciting plans especially for mobile betting, poker and egaming products,” said Betfred.com’s Mark Pearson.
