A financial and banking exec has been named as the new CEO of Swedish gambling monopoly Svenska Spel, and will take up his responsibilities within the next few months, replacing temporary chief Anders Hagg, the company’s CFO who has been keeping the seat warm.
Lennart Kall has built a career in banking and finance and joins Svenska Spel from Wasa Kredit, where he was chief executive. He has held other senior posts in the Swedish banking and financial system, including management positions at TryggFinans, SEB Finans and ICA Banken. Prior to that he was chief executive of the Ticket Travel Group.
Svenska Spel has been led by CFO Anders Hagg since the departure of former boss Meta Persdottir in mid-2010.
Anitra Steen, chairman of the company, said the board was pleased to announce Kall’s appointment.
“He has solid and well documented experience in development and change management as well as in sales and marketing from numerous companies. He is a proven leader that will be valuable for the future development of Svenska Spel,” she said.
“Svenska Spel is an exciting company with a strong corporate brand and a number of popular gaming products,” said Kall of his new job. “Also, the connection to Swedish sports was very appealing to me. I am very honoured to be appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.
“My gaming experience can be summarised in my weekly lottery numbers but I also have 30 years business experience in a variety of trades and markets. The common denominator has been an interest in consumer markets and a strong customer focus. I will bring this experience to Svenska Spel.”
